It is hard to compared cruise companies, especially if the itineraries are quite different, but it seems that comparisons between SilverSeas and Regent Seven Seas makes sense. They are both considered Ultra Luxury. We have sailed several times on Silver Seas and have been quite happy. We chose Regent for this trip because of time and itinerary. Relative to SilverSeas, Regent was as or somewhat more expensive.

To start, I would like to say that there are things about Regent that I thought were clearly superior to SilverSeas. The most important positive for Regent was free washing and ironing. That allowed us to bring less and not have to do our own washing. I also thought the entertainment was significantly better on Regent than SilverSeas.

I thought the staff was friendly and smiled but I honestly did not feel close to any of them, which was different on SilverSeas. On Regent, there is no specific "butler" and we actually seldom even saw the head of our service team. The food on the Regent Voyager was quite good but there were fewer choices and even though the upscale restaurants were included for free, there are limitations of one reservation to each. There were no asian-fusion restaurants on our Regent ship, though there may be on theres. The restaurant service (non-buffet) on the Regent was really slow. This was especially true at lunch and at more that one occasion it took over 45 minutes to be served. Twice, we just got up and left the ship deck lunch without eating. Room service appetizers took 45 minutes one time and 60 minutes another. Regent seemed MUCH more buffet oriented. The buffets were good but not especially impressive. Two specific things that were outstanding on SilverSeas that were very below par on Regent were pizza and ice cream. We really loved both on SilverSea and eating frozen pizza on a ultra luxury cruise did not cut it.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Suite

Fine but a bit small and tired decorations (according to my wife).
