Carnival Splendor had three cruises that lined up nicely. South Pacific, Moreton Island and New Zealand. We booked all three with the same cabin. Once we got on board for the first cruise we didn't unpack for 25 days! It was an epic journey, and with all the activities and port days, we had an incredible time. The staff were amazing and did anything and everything to be sure we were well taken care of. This is our first year of retirement. We are attempting to visit 6 continents in the first year. The 10 cruises we have planned are getting us to 5 of them.

Sea days were relaxed, but we had a basic routine. Morning walking deck/exercising, followed by breakfast or brunch in the main dining room. Being on a ship this long, you really get to know the staff, and they all want to do their best and provide wonderful service. After breakfast, we would grab a game we brought (travel size dominos or Yahtzee, or cards) and go to the deck above Lido. We would listen to the DJ, or watch the activities (competition synchronized swimming was our favorite, but the horse race, ring toss, trivia, and dancing were good too). Light lunch or snack followed by afternoon walking the decks, with occasional naps rounded out the day. Dinner was early seating, and after that we would catch a production show in the main theater, comedy, or great live music in the Red Frog Pub (Music Manilla, Soph & Simon were amazing!) or Lido Deck Party! Rohan in the Piano Bar always had a great time, and was a fantastic performer. Always more to do than we had time.

The food was great, with lots of choices. Being on a cruise for so many days, I had to watch myself. I wanted my clothes to still fit at the end of the 25 days! I was doing my best to eat a light breakfast. The SuperFood Salad at brunch was my favorite. Other times, the parfait, or veggie omelet were my choice. I avoided eating the delicious bacon and sausage most days. I definitely stayed away from the wonderful pancakes and waffles. The waiters were wonderful at helping me make better choices so I didn't eat too much. At dinner, I skipped the appetizers and dessert most days. The lower calorie options are indicated on the menu.

Cabin Review

Balcony

For the two of us, it is plenty of room. We use the balcony, and enjoy the cabin. The bed was comfortable, and room was always clean.

Port Reviews

Mystery Island

Fantastic beaches, snorkeling, and swimming. We were able to find a beach where I could lay in the sand under the shade of a palm tree. Spent a lot of time swimming, sitting in the water.

Noumea

Lots of things to do in town. We took the Hop On Hop Off buss and relaxed, visited a café, walked along some beautiful beaches, and would love to go back.
