We took this cruise with my brother and his wife. We had been trying to do this since late 2020, but trips were cancelled or we backed out due to risks associated with Covid-19. The overall cruise was great. Weather was warmer than expected, and enjoyable. We met a bunch of like-minded guests and had fun: this was true of an earlier Viking river cruise down the Rhine. Food was good, but I was expecting more of the local faire, but I guess I just did not bite on the offerings (sorry for the punishment). Excursions were good, but they seemed to be reduced in scope from the earlier cruise. We enjoyed a river excursion to Scharding--beer and pretzels--and on a boat. Climbing to the castle in Budapest was demanding and appreciated. The tour of the farmers market in Vienna was interesting. Lots of beautiful architecture in both places. Nuremberg was interesting with the saving of artwork (Monuments Men), and we had good food at a local restaurant recommended by our guide (I think it was there or probably Bamberg). Crossing the continental divide was interesting: we passed through the Alps from the East to the West! We enjoyed all of the locks. Entertainment was not the same as the earlier cruise, but we did enjoy it, and we had the crowd I spoke of before. We did the Top of Cologne tour, and I would recommend that to anyone! Interesting stories and incredible views (in spite of the rain). The corridor of the castles, Marksburg castle, and Kinderdijk were enjoyable, interesting, and provided historical perspective.

Cabin Review

Veranda Stateroom

Cabin was nice. Small but very functional.
