I chose this cruise as it was going through an area of Germany that I remember from my childhood. Actually, I was born very far north Germany, but I remember going to Berlin when I was a kid. I have many tassen in my china cabinet and even some old pieces from Dresden - which I inherited from my grandmother. I wanted to go somewhere other than the Rhine and my daughter and I really wanted to see Berlin. We loved the ease of traveling around Berlin prior to the cruise. The buses and trains were easy and there is so much to see. Everyone was so friendly. We got the experience of dining in a Michelin Star restaurant when we dined at Hugo's in the Intercontinental Berlin - it was a magical dinner.

Everywhere we went with Viking, all of our needs and wants were met, Viking really does have the best crew. Everyone we met on the cruise was friendly and because the ships are smaller, you get to know your fellow travelers better and can form friendships if you desire. If you want some privacy, there is room for that as well. Our stateroom was very comfortable and our steward was outstanding! I learned so much on all of the tours! The guides were extremely knowedgeable. We learned so much about the towns we visited and the historic sites. It created in me a desire to explore more and see more of the country I was born in and the places of my mother and grandmother - going back hundreds of years. My great grandmother was Polish German and came from that part of the country. The opportunity to travel in such comfort, with such a great company and crew, and go through the parts of Europe I have longed to see since I left as a child - It was life changing for me. I wouldn't have traded that experience for anything. I look forward to exploring a little more western Germany in 2024. This time along the Rhine. Thank you Viking for everything!

Cabin Review

French Balcony Stateroom

We loved our cabin. Having the large window was a plus. Being able to turn over in bed and look through the curtains to see where we might be "parked" was actually pretty fun. When we were in Dresden, the view outside my window was so pretty!
