Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia is a relatively new destination for Viking. The Mars is new as of 2022 and is a beautiful ship. Viking doesn't appear to have the knowledge or connections as of yet in this area. The excursions were generally poorly planned and executed. On-ship excursions and customer service support appeared to have no knowledge of the regions visited. I'd rate the ship amenities, dining staff and stewards as 5 - top notch service. The customer service and excursion support was a 1. Be aware that all the ports are far from areas to be visited and traffic is congested. Plan around 2 hour bus transit each way to visit sites. This limits the time available to see any sites. In several instances the excursion was a bus driveby. The communication between Viking and local excursion companies was poor. The excursion description rarely matched the actual experience. The pre-trip extension to Cambodia offered access to Angkor Was area. The hotel facilities (Park Hyatt) in Siem Reap were exceptional. The area is worth a visit, but Viking needs to workout the elements of the trip with its tour operator. The trip was not delivered as described. There was significant downtime during afternoons and some of activities were skipped. We were all jet lagged so activities earlier in day would fit better. Dinner at 7PM followed by shows makes for a very late night for the sleep deprived.

Cabin Review

Penthouse Veranda Stateroom

Cabin was beautiful and comfortable. Cabin stewards were top-notch.
