Hurtigruten and the Roald Amundsen far exceeded our expectations. First, the Alaska coast takes your breath away and the ability for the Amundsen to navigate in to excluded fjords and bays was amazing. Second, the Expedition staff ensured a great experience in each situation including zodiac and kayak trips up the glaciers, amid water falls and ice flows. Excursions ranged from trips deep into fjords including Misty Fjord, Icey Bay and College Bay. Staff on board and meal service was stellar along with daily lectures on a range of topics. The ship's facilities including gym, running track, pool, sauna and hot tub rounded out the enjoyment. Cabins were modern with great layout and comfort. Daily lectures included a range of topics including daily reviews or briefings as well as science lectures on whales (humpbacks and orcas), eagles, and other wild life native to the Alaska coast. This was a cruise unlike others !!!! A MUST DO!!
