I chose this cruise because I had taken a Viking River Cruise several years ago and loved it. But this cruise has been a disaster. The arranged flights basically cut a day off the cruise up front. Then cancelled flights caused the flight to be rebooked to the next day AFTER the ship would have departed. But we protested to the airline and luckily got a flight several hours later. We checked with Viking but when we arrived, there was no one to meet us of do the transfer -- three couples. None of the Viking contact numbers worked and there was no local number in Denmark. Customer service hung up on me twice and then put me on hold for 40 minutes before I finally hung up (at 20 cents a minute.) Finally we had to find taxis who would take us to the port area (there are three of them) to hunt for the ship. It was at the third of three ports, so we arrived about 3AM. The staff was rude and refused repeatedly to reimburse us for the taxi ride. Finally after hours of arguing with them, they gave us the taxi fare minus the tip. Had we used the Viking-provided air, the ship would have left without us. All we asked was to be made whole but it became obvious why the ship is only about 1/3 full.

But that also means that food stays too long on the serving line and is often stale because there is not enough turnover on the serving line. The crew is pleasant and efficient, but obviously disgruntled because most of their income comes from tips.

The internet on the ship is spotty and extremely slow. ALL streaming sites (including those with video ads and such) are blocked, so what you can get to is very unpredictable. The Viking Emergency Number is not functional either from the States or from abroad.

We're appreciative of your thoughtful review, HappilyRetired4424, and are sorry to hear of issues due to airline cancellations. Additionally, it's regrettable to learn aspects of pre-trip...
