Viking Tialfi - Basel to Amsterdam 23-30 April 2022

We booked this week long cruise at short notice and on an impulse tempted by Viking’s flyer with three heavily discounted cruises on certain dates. On booking direct with Viking we were given the Silver Spirits package in addition. This was our tenth river cruise, all with Viking, and our very first cruise ten years ago was the same route. It didn’t matter; the most important thing was to have a holiday, to be cosseted, and to let others cook and clear up. And it meant we wouldn’t feel obliged to take tours we’d been on before.

Viking booked non-stop flights with British Airways from London to Basel, and return from Amsterdam to London. There were no delays going out and at Basel airport – which is actually in France so one has to take the correct exit from the baggage hall because one way goes through Swiss immigration and customs while other goes to France – we were met by Viking staff wearing unmistakeable bright red clothing.
