First time on HAL (primarily Celebrity cruiser). Ship was nice, but didn't have the "wow" factor. We liked the back of the ship adult pool area and Exploration Cafe Deck 12 was a favorite!
We (my friend and I in our mid 50s) enjoyed the Music Walk concept, but didn't like that you had to arrive very early and wait to have a seat. BB Kings talent was excellent and we enjoyed that standing or sitting! The main stage shows were lacking (except for the last night). I felt bad for the professional classical musicians that had to "play along" to the movie. Sort of strange?
Very disappointed in the minimal activities. On sea days, we saw a brief dance class at lido pool and a quick music trivia at the back of the ship. Overall, we felt the activities and options were very poor. Maybe because of their inexperienced cruise director? Other people we met had the same feeling. An experienced (over 82 cruises) cruising couple we met called it "boring".
Oceanview cabin on Main Deck was very conveniently located. Spacious. Lots of storage. We were upgraded to a family oceanview which included a 2nd shower and sink. It was very small, but nice to have the extra bathroom. Room was quiet. Our steward Agus did an excellent job and we saw him all day every day providing great service.
Might be my least favorite port to date. You go to the right or to the left of the ship....that's about it for our stop. We went to the right. It was rocky (as in ledge and boulders trying to get to the water). The water also had a strange foul smell. We were off ship about 1.5 hours and left. Typical tourist trap shops you have to go through to get to either side. We were told the left side was better with Margaritaville and the Shack. This is NOT Turks Providenciales- much different.
Key West is always fun !! We did a 3 hour snorkel tour right at the dock with Fury. It was a beautiful day and the crew did a great job !
