We took this California coastal cruise as a family gathering. My portion of the family lives in Orange County; so getting to the port was a simple 25 minute drive. For what we paid for the screws and the value we received, I thought it was a great deal. The ports were fun, energized and lovely - Even if you didn’t get off the ship. We didn’t have very many shore excursion options but that was OK because we did our own thing and were able to navigate the cities efficiently. The staff on the cruise were wonderful. The ship is beautiful. The medallion accessory made the cruise very unique, easy and seamless the majority of the time. Initially, since we were traveling with two very elderly parents, utilizing the medallion was a little bit challenging, but once we got everything programmed in (with the help of the IT personnel on deck seven), it worked great. We were actually able to track my parents in order to properly care for them even though they did not have a cell phone. We did some sort of backwards trick to get them into the system for us to track them. So we knew exactly where they were and we could make sure to have someone with them to care for them at all times. Plus, being a party of 11, it was fun to be able to know where everybody was so we could meet up if we wanted to for dinner, trivia or just relaxing. The Hollywood pool and area behind (Conservatory) it was extremely open and beautiful and very rarely had many people. That pool and relaxation area had many what looked like private bungalow settings that were available for so many people to utilize at no extra charge. My favorite eating place was on the seventh floor which was the Alfredos pizzeria. There rarely was a line to get in there and it was very quiet, calm and the pizza was amazing.
Our cabin was very nice and spacious. There was plenty of closet space and cabinets. The bathroom was decent for a cruise ship. The balcony was nice and had plenty of room for two chairs and a table and room to get around them. You can have your room set up with two twin beds or push them together to make more of a queen.
I mean let’s be honest it’s a Ensenada. It’s not the best port in the world but I find it to be fun. The people are nice. You just have to pass one street to get to the colorful shops where the vendors call you in to sell you their items. I enjoy it. It definitely is a low income area. But if you have a positive attitude, I think you can have a fun time there. It’s not a fancy port.
