We chose this cruise as we love the Caribbean and it fit in to my work holidays. This was our first ever cruise so needless to say we were really excited about going. Not sure if we chose the wrong cruise (too many sea days in a row), if Covid had an impact or our expectations were just too high but I can honestly say we were underwhelmed. The port days and the organised excursions were fantastic. The cleanliness and the staff were excellent. Entertainment was very underwhelming, I expected the shows to be West End quality. The 2 shows we saw were good (not exceptional) and then there was a magic act repeated twice, a Phil Collins tribute act, repeated twice and I can't remember what else. The external acts in the Limelight theatre were however, brilliant (Ray Quinn and Toyah, we never saw 4 Poofs and a Piano). We loved dressing up on the formal nights but there was nothing special about the nights themselves, so although we enjoyed dressing up, it seems a lot of effort for nothing special going on. We had 1 speaker on board whilst we were there and he was very good. We joined in some of the quizzes but for us coming back across the Atlantic as it is getting colder towards home, there just wasn't enough on board to entertain and we spent a lot of time in our cabin watching films (a rather expensive way to watch a film). All the food we ate in the speciality restaurants was of a high standard and tasty, although to pay extra for a burger in the Beach House we thought was a little too much. The food in the MDR and the buffet was good but very very repetitive and we expected more on formal nights in the MDR.

I am not saying I would never cruise again (as I wasn't sea sick and there were some good points), but I won't be in a hurry to rush off and cruise again.

Cabin Review

We had a balcony cabin and did find that the door to the shower kept swinging open and banging when there was a swell and when you were on the toilet it touched your legs, so felt the bathroom needed to be a bit bigger, on the whole though the cabin was brilliant. The balcony was adequate, although not huge. Chose the wrong side of the ship as we didn't get the sun until 5pm on the balcony.

Port Reviews

Antigua

We did the stingray city tour and it was fantastic. They are huge (and heavy). An experience I never otherwise would have had. Thoroughly recommend it.

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

We did the Nevis island tour with P&O and it was fantastic. After an interesting speedboat ride across to the island, we took in a tour of Nevis island. We visited a hot springs and a quaint little artisan village. We finished at a restaurant for a delicious lunch with rum punch and I would certainly recommend trying the rum and raisin ice cream and we finished off on the beautiful beach, where the speedboat picked us up from for our return.

St. Lucia

We did the waterfalls and gardens tour on this one. The waterfalls were ok but not spectacular. The gardens were lovely and we did get to see a hummingbird (unfortunately too quick to capture by photo/video). I would have liked to see more of St Lucia as I didn't feel we'd seen the best of the place.

Ponta Delgada

We did the fire lakes and mountains trip. We had a fantastic guide who took us to little villages and even introduced us to a local mayor. The scenery was stunning and definitely a place I would like to go back and explore.
