First time trying a Mississippi River cruise after taking over 12 ocean cruises. The itinerary of Memphis to New Orleans was my main reason for choosing this cruise. Flying into Memphis the cruise included an overnight stay at The Peabody Hotel. Took taxi to airport, cost of $39.50 plus tip seemed high but efficient. The Peabody is a grand lady and was glad to stay there but my room extremely small and bathroom ridiculously small. If needed to stay more nights I would have asked for a different room. After check-in the cruise line offered free Covid testing which was much appreciated. Less than 30 minutes I had my results. The next afternoon we were provided transport to boat.

American Countess is a lovely boat and main areas are spacious. There is a library, card game room, and spa. I found the Pursars desk to only being manned by one person and not always able to answer questions. Seemed a little off at times. There is a coffee room available with treats at times and sandwiches on some days.

I had balcony cabin which I enjoyed thoroughly. Room was fine with large bathroom but pretty small closet. Our steward was very nice and accommodating but still at times things were not replaced as they should have been. There is a Keurig in the room but again coffee pods were replaced but not the cups?? Had to find him and ask for replacements.
