I have cruised with six other cruise lines in years past and have found Celebrity to be the best choice. There was a specialness, attention, variety, great food and interesting venues on their ships. Perhaps some of my disappointment with this Bahama cruise stems from the Covid19 issue, but that still does not excuse the present short comings, I experienced. The inconsistencies began with the planing I had difficulty getting information as to where the transfer from Miami Airport to the Pier, was take place . After much uncertainty ,the phone agent finely told me we were to meet at baggage claim # 24. The luggage from my flight was found at baggage claim 6. I asked an airport employee where #24 was and he told me it was another building. I saw a representative from Royal Carribean, and asked if they knew where the meeting was for Celebrity. I guy popped out of no where, with no sign and said it was him. He told me to go over there by the wall and wait..but for how long ? Without an announcement he starts walking off, rather quickly making it difficult for the older people to keep up. It was a quite a long walk to the bus. Once outside, it became clear that wearing a mask in heat and humidity is quite uncomfortable.BTW, I don't appreciate the driver posting a sign next to his seat saying, "Remember to take care of the driver ". A final health questionaire was to be completed upon arrival at the Pier, at a scheduled !:30 PM . The Celebrity representatives knew nothing about it. There were only three Celebrity representatives there. There was no queue. However check in was disjointed. I got my sign in papers and walked onto the ship. I was allowed to go to my room. The ship card was on the door.

The new bathrooms are small and difficult to maneuver. After dropping off my backpack in my room, I went to the 10th floor to the Ocean View Cafe to get something to eat. I have been on thirteen cruises in total, so I have a considerable past reference for the quality of food. In my opinion, there has been a significant dumbing-down of the variety and quality of the food . Example , chicken wings not white and dark meat,...Only a few varieties of bread, no meatloaf, the hot dogs and hamburgers were pre cooked and reheated rather than newly cooked., no mashed potatoes, limited ingredients for the stir fry and the taco station, the fruit was adequate, but the melon was tough and had the green of the rind, no beef cutting station, only one type of pizza offered...pepperoni, in other words basic inexpensive fare. In the main dining room you will only find the same fare as in the Ocean View Cafe. If you eat in the dining room, expect a long wait to have your water glass refilled, as the waiters are off having a conversation instead of paying attention to you. With only 500 passengers on the trip, you would have expected more attention. Not too long ago, you could get Prime Rib, Lobster, fine fish, and meat alternatives in a main dining room .That is now offered in the specialty dining rooms at extra cost. I had hoped, as a single traveler, that I would be seated with other guests. In fact I have been told when booking my cruise that I could sit at a large table with other people. Not sitting with other passengers, a single traveler sits alone. Unlike the past, you only have these two choices to eat as compared to multiple all included venues. Around the ship, the ice cream station often has no one manning it. Don't bother with the hamburger/hotdog outside station. It is a joke !

There is only precooked hotdogs and hamburgers that they lightly heat leaving you with a slightly warm item. There is no relish or much of a variety of add ons. The french fries are cold and tough. With no trays, it is difficult to get an ice tea and maneuver your plate to the table. And, no one was around to help.

Cabin Review

Ocean View 8

Small bathroom difficult to maneuver. Stains on the carpet. Rust on the veranda deck.
