First a little background. We have cruised many times and sail with various mainstream cruise lines, although Holland America has come to be our favorite. We were really missing being at sea and were excited when we heard that Holland America would resume sailing in Alaska. Of course, we were also nervous about mask and test requirements and just in general nervous about getting out there again. What a relief to find the Nieuw Amsterdam in sparkling clean condition and a happy and enthusiastic crew onboard. Other than some rain in the ports, I can't think of one bad thing to say about this cruise. We ate delicious meals that were served by thoughtful waitstaff, our suite was in perfect order, we enjoyed the music entertainment offerings, and just in general had a fabulous time.

I'm so glad we conquered our fears and started cruising again. A big Thank You to the staff and crew of the Nieuw Amsterdam for getting everything so right during this difficult time.

A note about my ratings: I gave 5 stars for entertainment because what was offered was fantastic, given the situation with Covid-19, but I really do hope that in time, the bigger shows will come back to the show room. They are missed!
