We had been on this cruise before with a different NCL ship - the Dream. That trip had very rough seas with many shattered dishes and broken liquor bottles. Fortunately this trip on the Spirit was smooth sailing.

This was a pure R&R cruise for us - time to de-stress and catch up on our reading. We have been to Bermuda before and did a thorough exploration of the island so there was no urge to do any real touring this time. Good thing as we had winds of 45 to 60 mph and rain 2 out of 3 days in Bermuda. We purchased the 3 day bus/ferry pass but ended up never leaving the Dockyard. They were gracious and returned our money for it. We did an afternoon at Snorkel Beach (overcrowded and loud) and enjoyed the Maritime Museum and the shops between raindrops.

Service We had wonderful service on the ship. Our cabin steward was excellent and took good care of us with towel animals every night except the last. The wait staffs in the main restaurants were friendly, served promptly without ever rushing you. The cheerful hand sprayers guarding the doors to Raffles calling out "Happy! Happy Washy! Washy!" and "holding up" people for smiles were great. Crew that you passed in the hall had ready smiles for you. They made it a pleasure to be on board. Food OK, NCL is not known for their superior food. The food in the main restaurants was good. The bread was exceptional. The desserts were dull, boring and mostly tasteless. The food in the buffet was hit and miss - there were a few exceptional dishes, some just OK and a few just not to our taste. There was always plenty to choose from and we certainly never went hungry. One day at lunch I wanted a cookie for dessert and was told very pleasantly that cookies could not be served until 2:30. I guess it was better than "no cookie for you!" but struck me as odd. Freestyle? Guess cookies are excluded.

Cabin OB

Smallest cabin we had ever seen but plenty of storage. The "couch" in the picture was actually a chair that converted into a bed and could seat 2 kids or one adult. Mysterious bed in the ceiling with sheets sticking out. Quiet location. The layout was disappointing with the bed under the window you could not look out. The bed was hard as a rock - the steward brought the "egg crate" foam which did little to help.
