The first leg of this journey was from Lima, Peru to Santiago, Chile. This first part was interesting but the protests, strikes, and safety concerns made some of the ports feel uninviting. We were onboard for Antarctica mainly and this cruise did not disappoint.

Antarctica is one of the most spectacular places on the planet and to be able to kayak, walk on sea ice, photography wildlife, and experience the majestic beauty was life changing. I was reading the book Endurance while on the cruise and it made the Antarctic part of the journey even more exciting.

The Quest is a nice size ship and has the best crew. Everyone was above and beyond in service and genuine friendliness. We enjoyed our time onboard so much we're already planning our return to Antarctica in a few years.

If 30 days seems like too much for you, then fly into Santiago, Chile and start there.

Cabin Review

Veranda Suite

Nice size cabin with balcony. Standard features and good sized bathroom with a tub and separate shower. Living space was adequate for the amount of time we actually spent in our cabin. Walk-in closet was great and we had room for two suitcases plus a garment bag full of clothes for our 30-day stay.

As always with the older ships, the lack of US 110 outlets or USB ports for charging devices is sorely lacking.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

The traffic in Lima is the second worst in the world. It's mind boggling. Took 1.5 hrs from the airport to our hotel.

Ushuaia (Tierra del Fuego)

Windiest place I've ever been. We went into town for lunch and to buy some extra layers for warmth. The ship got stuck here overnight when the wind was so bad the port closed. We made up the 11 hour loss though and didn't have to sacrifice a day in Antarctica.

Gentoo Penguins in Bluff Cove

Loved this place and the penguins. Best part of the excursion was the tea room and the sweets. We were so impressed with the ladies who did all the baking and hosted us.

Gaucho cowboy presentation, great BBQ lunch, exploring the beach and seeing the beautiful landscape.
