We choose this cruise because it would take us to a part of the world we had not seen. We loved the visit to St. Petersburg and seeing the mountains and fjords in Norway. The stop in Eidfjorg had the most beautiful scenery.

Our ship, Viking Jupiter, was a wonderful experience. We especially enjoyed all of the quiet "living room" settings on the ship. The food in all of the restaurants and World Cafe was delicious and well prepared. The staff was very accomodating to everything we asked for, which was not much because our Veranda room was beautifully furnished and very well equipped. When our cabin steward knew that we liked ice in our water, he always had an ice bucket filled with ice in the refrigerator. Laundrettes on each floor were a nice convenience and who would not love the heated bathroom floors!

The spa was something to experience, especially the Snow Grotto! The thermal pool was very relaxing and refreshing.

Cabin Review

Our cabin was spacious and very comfortable. It was toward the back of the ship and very quiet. The closet was adequate and had a set of drawers inside of it. There was another set of drawers with a safe in the entryway beside the bathroom. In addition to the king size bed with night tables on each side, there were two chairs and a coffee table, a nice vanity that opened with a mirror and a stool you could sit on. the bathroom floors were heated and felt nice on your bare feet. The sink and shower areas were spacious and well equipped. Our balcony had two chairs and a table and was very comfortable when it was warm enough to enjoy it! The cabin was just right for us.

Port Reviews

Helsinki

This is the only tour we were disappointed. We enjoyed seeing the old town of Porvoo, but very disappointed in the Castle of Malmgarden.

St. Petersburg

Incredible performance of Swan Lake and the Alexandra Theater was beautiful.

Tallinn

I had scheduled a bicycle tour, but it was raining, so I changed to the Open Air Museum and it was a very interesting experience. We saw a show of Estonian Dancers that was terrific.

Gdansk (Warsaw)

Mid-evil castle that had been run by Tutonic Knights for over 300 years. Was very interesting to see the lower, middle and high castle.

Rostock (Warnemunde)

The suprise of this tour was the 2 1/2 hour train ride to get from the port into Berlin. Once there, we enjoyed the tour and lunch in a German restaurant. Saw Brandenberg Gate, part of the Berlin Wall. It was a long day, but well worth it.

Copenhagen

We went on a walking a 2 1/2 mile walking tour of the city. We enjoyed it very much.

Copenhagen

Loved Tivoli Gardens! Beautiful flowers everywhere with amusement rides throughout the park. Very reminiscent of Disney World's Magic Kingdom and Epcot.

Aalborg

My husband chose a bicycle tour which he enjoyed. I chose "Meet the Danes". We were taken to two different houses and met two different and very interesting women. They each told us about their homes and the history of their houses. I enjoyed this very much. I loved getting out into the countryside on tours.

Eidfjord

Oh my goodness! The scenery in this little cove of Eidfjord was spectacular. The benefit of the small Viking ships is that they can get into smaller places. The tour we took was the Secnic Flam Railway. The country was beautiful, the tunnels were tall and long, even having intersections in them! The train ride was fun with beautiful scenery everywhere you looked. Wonderful day!
