We had never been on a Viking cruise before and wanted to know if they are as good as we had read. The cruise lived up to our expectations.
The ship was beautiful with plenty of space and lots of seats in all of the various areas so you could always find somewhere to sit and relax. Consequently, the ship never felt crowded or busy.
The food was excellent and the waiting staff in the restaurant were always willing to get drinks that weren't available as standard in the restaurant.
The excursions were great - we only did the complimentary included excursions - and the guides were excellent with lots of knowledge about the places they took us to.
The cabin was good with everything we needed, and any problems were sorted out quickly.
The entertainment was good, but the only complaint we had was with the nightclub late at night. We went after the shows a couple of times but there was nowhere we could have a good dance, the nightclub not being a dance venue. The only time we could have a late night dance was when they had the 'Dancing Under The Stars' on the pool deck instead of a show in the theatre, which was good, but a late night disco type dance venue would be good for those that like to have a dance.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise, the only downside being the time taken by the flights from Manchester via Philadelphia to Puerto Rico. The 4-5 hours layover in Philadelphia made for long journey times going and returning. A direct flight from the UK to Puerto Rico or another embarkation port would make another Caribbean cruise with Viking so much more attractive.
Lovely comfortable cabin. Had everything we needed, and any problem was quickly sorted out.
