The itinerary on this cruise was exactly what we were looking for. We stayed in Venice for two nights prior to the cruise and one night after. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Venice.
Embarkation was not bad except for the very long walk from the People Mover to the ship. Luckily it was not raining. We noticed that taxis were allowed to drive up next to the ship so that would be a good option to avoid the long walk, particularly in inclement weather.
This was our first cruise with NCL and we were totally unimpressed. Everything was just mediocre. Our cabin was acceptable, the food and entertainment were average. The crew members were friendly and accommodating.
Four of our six ports of call were tender ports. The process to get a boarding number for the tender was horrible. We woke at 5:30 AM to stand in line for a boarding number. They started passing them out at 6:00 AM and the first tender would leave at 7:00 AM. Why they could not have distributed them the day before is unknown.
Disembarkation was an absolute mess. Since we were not heading to the airport we chose a late departure time. I assume that the people who were trying to catch early flights may have been disappointed. They routed us down to Deck 4 using the stairs and we were packed in shoulder to shoulder. The problem was they didn't stop people from using the elevators so when an elevator door would open, those people had to muscle their way off the elevator and into the crowd, getting in front of people who had been waiting in line. People in back started shouting "get in the back of the line" and it was not a good situation.
This will be our one and only cruise with NCL.
