Special birthday, new destinations, somewhere we have wanted to go for many years, a cruise seemed a good way to do it.
Orion is a fabulous ship, the crew, facilities and comfort are first class.
Travel arrangements were well organised and transfers were good.
Stateroom is well appointed and very comfortable and has everything you could possibly want.
All restaurants are exceptional, good choice and superb quality. House wines very good.
Entertainment and enrichment talks very good.
Unfortunately our cruise dates clashed with golden week/installation of the new Emperor, the whole of Japan was on holiday for the duration of time there. This did cause problems with a number of shore excursions and curtailed some time in port. This was the first time Viking had done this itinerary, we felt we were guinea pigs, and we were dissapointed with some of the content of the tours offered. The quiet boxes did not work very well, the guides difficult to understand. Some of the additional excursions are very expensive for what is offered, whilst we would definitely do another cruise (and are) with Viking we would be more cautious on how we spent our money.
Cannot really fault it, being very picky a little more drawer storage for clothes would be good.
dissapointing, visited viewing point for volcano which was ok. there was a silk factory just down the road from the ship, not mentioned any where and only found out afterwards from tourist office just before embarkation to leave. How good would that have been.!View All 25 City Tour Reviews
Only did the included freebee, which took us to a cultural museum which was interesting.
Customs procedure was long and ate into the time there. Not something Viking had any control over though.
Overall excellent, although again held up by the less mobile. Lost our guide due to number of visitors so missed part of our tour. Bamboo Forest. Had an interesting and very authentic meal in a Buddist temple.Would I do it again ,doubtful.View All undefined undefined Reviews
