Did the Western Caribbean itinerary out of Miami during the week of Memorial Day. The good: The staff, particularly the bar staff, was excellent. Howl at the Moon remains one of the best things on NCL. Dylan Mandlsohn had some great comedy shows. Rock the Pour House with Guilty Pleasure was some great, great music (though see below.) Food and service in the specialty restaurants (we did Moderno, Teppanyaki and Cagney's) was, as expected, excellent. Cruise Director Paquito was personable and energetic and onboard activities were fun, though kind of run of the mill. Appreciated the extra space in our mini suite, which we bid on for an upgrade from our original balcony. Not so good: Beer taps in O'Sheehan's never worked -- it's not much of a sports bar/Irish pub if you don't have beer on tap, sorry. "Rock of Ages" was just flat out terrible, I've seen better high school musicals. Syd Norman's Pour House, despite the name, had no beer on tap and nothing you couldn't find in any other bar on the ship -- sorry, if you call it a "pour house," you need something more like the District Brewhouse on other NCL ships. The sound level in the Pour House, for both shows, was painfully loud. Harvest Caye is a waste of a port and the whole Western Caribbean itinerary (Roatan, Harvest Caye, Costa Maya, Cozumel) is just boring. Balconies on the Breakaway are comically small. Cruise over Memorial Day meant lots of kids, which normally wouldn't be an issue, but this cruise meant lots of unsupervised kids, ignored by parents and running around the ship screaming at all hours of the night.

Great staff, not so great facilities

Cabin Review

Family Mini-Suite with Balcony
Cabin M2 12804
Nice room, appreciate the bigger bathroom. Balcony is ridiculously small. TV in an awkward position for watching from bed.
