Overall we had a great time on the Bliss. The new ship is beautiful and has many great spots for enjoying the beautiful views of Alaska and the wildlife. We would have liked more time in Ketichikan since we had to be back on ship at 12:45. The town had the most things to do once we completed our kayaking excursion but we did not have enough to see all the lovely areas like Creek street and the surrounding viewpoints and hikes.

The stop in Victoria was not really much of a stop since we arrived at 8:30 PM and left at 11:30 PM. We were told they have to make an international stop in order to avoid some of the employment laws in the US. I was really disappointed that we could not see Buchard Gardens in the daylight. I think advertising this as a port day is completely inaccurate and it is really another day at sea. If you are booking this cruise please note that.

Our time in Juneau, Skagway and Glacier Bay was great and if you need to book excursions for your cruise I used Alaska Shore Excursions to book the three Alaska ports. We enjoyed a whale watch and Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau, The 6 hour mini bus to the Klondike in Skagway and kayaking Eagle Island in Ketchican. I called the company and a local in Skagway who has been on all the tours was a huge help for deciding what I wanted to do and they offer a multi port discount.

The big problem with our cruise was our stateroom, 15603. From the moment we boarded we could hear sounds from above like someone was washing things in a large tub and then pouring more water into the tub. We looked at the floor plan and we were under the spa so we though it would be quiet at least at night, but this was not the case. The other sound was coming from under our room and sounded like someone dragging a large metal object across our floor that actually caused it to vibrate. On the floor plan it looked like another state room but turned out to be a large housekeeping area. Again these sounds continued 24 hours a day and woke me up even with ear plugs in. The worst part was after complaining every day NCL would not do anything about it. They actually called and sent notes every day, which became annoying, just to ask if it was still happening. I told them to come check any time of the day or night but still no change. Then they offered a room change very late the second to last night because someone had left early due to emergency. We did not think this was worth it so late in the cruise. I was almost insulted when they offered priority disembarkation, sparkeling wine or chocolate covered strawberries for our trouble on the last day. Do not book room 15603 as you will not get any sleep or a quiet moment. Even on the 15th deck I felt like I was in steerage.

Port Reviews

Victoria

Not a real port since we arrived at 8:30 PM and left at 11:30 PM. Not enough time or daylight to do anything.
