After reading so many negatives about sailing on the Edge, prior to our cruise, when I returned I felt it was necessary to tell some of the positives of this beautiful new ship. The embarkation was an absolute breeze. You do have a little hike after dropping off your luggage if you are parking a car in the parking garage. That said, the process of getting onboard was the fastest we have ever experienced. No waiting in long lines. Our seapass cards were in the door of our room and they actually told us we could go drop our things in our cabin before having lunch. None of the locked doors stating the cabins would not open until after 1pm!!! Such a nice treat. Upon entering, all of our excursion tickets, special dining reservations, etc were neatly placed on the bed. Of course, we had to try out the motorized shade and balcony window. Yes, the balcony is not as large as a standard but certainly adequate for the very comfortable chairs provided. The café where the buffet is located is pleasant and very spacious. The one thing I didn't understand is why the handwashing station was not mandatory. Only saw a few using it. When we have cruised on RCCL, the handwashing station was roped off and it was mandatory each person entering the dining area wash their hands. They did have someone at the door offering hand sanitizer but I think the handwashing is more effective. As for ease of moving around the buffet stations, it was effortless. Large areas and tons of food selections. Hamburgers were only available outside the Solarium pool area. Loved the martini bar. Pricey for anyone not purchasing a beverage package. Again, the comfortable chairs in this area made it very popular place to hang before dinner. Live musicians and vocalists performed. The highlight is the bartenders and their act. At 8:30 each night, they do a juggling act with liquor bottles and a super demonstration using stainless, filled shakers. Loved the energy of all of the bartenders. Very friendly staff The shows, for most part, were enjoyable. High energy dancers and singers. Hated the show , "Hot Mid-summer Night Dream" or some crazy title. It was so weird and we just wanted it to be over. They really need to re-think that show. The other production shows were very good. 1st comedian wasn't very funny but the 2nd was hilarious. Big shift in the dress-up nights. Everyone is going to less formal attire. Men are even electing to leave the jackets at home. Yeah for that one. I didn't see very many people in dressy stuff. Cruise director was engaging. We really enjoyed our excursion in St. Maarten. Took the one with the ship that was Foods of St. Maarten. It was excellent and we enjoyed sampling three different native meals. Our guide was great. You travel on an air conditioned bus and she really provides a tour of the entire island. Well worth the price. Our favorite place to spend our sea days was the Solarium pool area. The lounge chairs were so comfortable, with thick cushions. Also, loved that checking out towels was not required. No standing in line and having to show your sea pass card. Finally!!! We did the express self debarkation. That was well tuned and we were off the ship by 7:30. Nothing to going through customs. Done with face recognition. Didn't have to even show our passports since it is all electronically entered before boarding the ship. Overall, great improvements. Our feeling is there are a few things that could be improved but Edge is a beautiful ship. The food was very good with lots of selections. Would definitely love to experience The Edge with a Europe itinerary.

Cabin Review

Edge Stateroom with Infinite Veranda
Cabin E4 7177
Spacious room with super comfortable bed. Love the large bathroom. Shower is larger than the usual. You do see the life boats one or two decks below when looking down from balcony. Biggest complaint is the noise from Club at night. Club is located on deck 4 but you need to be further away from its location. Steading bass beat until wee hours of the morning. Would not choose this cabin again because of that.
Deck 8 Inside Cabins, Outside Cabins, Balcony Cabins, Suite Cabins
