We just returned from sailing on the Coral Princess from Ft. Lauderdale to Los Angeles. We arrived at the pier around 11:30am and we were in our cabin by 12N. We did purchase boxed wine in Ft. Lauderdale and had no problem in taking it on the ship. We also purchased a bottle of wine in Aruba and brought it on board. We have found that Princess has the best and most organized check in system. We found our way to the dining room and enjoyed a quiet sit down lunch. It was a great way to start our trip. We had a balcony cabin on Aloha deck and were very happy with the accommodations. The cabin is right below the Lido but we did not hear any noise and enjoyed having the covered balcony. We spent a lot of time on the balcony as we saw, dolphins, whales and even sea turtles. The cabin was good size, lots of closet space, hangers and the bathroom was typical for a cruise ship. Our cabin steward, Danny, made sure we had everything we asked for: top sheet for the bed, robe and wine glasses. The day sailing thru the canal was beautiful and something we will never forget. The Scholarship @ sea program provided good lectures on the sea days. My husband enjoyed the Panama Canal program but did find it to be repetitious as we had done a lot of reading prior to sailing. We chose anytime dining and it was OK. The second night at sea we wait 40 minutes for a table for 2, other nights the wait was between 10-15 minutes. We changed our dining around and went to Horizon Cafe and also had a couple of movie and Pizza dinners while enjoying the Muts. We found the food in the dining room to be good but the Horizon Buffet was even better. We were disappointed in the food and service at the Bayou and also were not interested in returning for the pub lunch at the Bayou. Most food was of good quality except for the steaks which were especially poor quality. Princess had a lot of activities to offer on the days at sea. We had a small amount of children on board and found a good mix of adults. We did not find the passengers to be all elderly but found a good mix from 50-80's. We also did not find it to be quiet at night. There were many shows, movies, games and the music provided in all the venues was great. We did not feel the shows were very good and the other entertainers (i.e. comics) not very good. The group Indigo played throughout the ship and at the pool and were excellent. Igor Kisel and the Ukraine Trio were amazing. We only did one ship tour, Panama City, and were very happy. It was on time, organized and informative. All the ship staff did a wonderful job and were very friendly. The only two areas lacking were the tour deck personnel and the Internet cafe. I don't know how or why Dennis is the Internet manager as he has no knowledge or personality. He could not answer any questions, did not call you back and knew nothing of the program that the ship offers in which you purchase time in advance and receive additional minutes. The disembarkation in Los Angeles was very smooth and orderly. Again, this is an area we find Princess excels. You are given a location and time and the at or close to the time, they escort you to the exit. We loved our trip thru the canal and will definitely sail with Princess again. We have had the opportunity to sail with may other cruise lines and are very happy with the Princess Product!! Happy Sailing!!
