We chose this cruise to Alaska based on the itinerary leaving from Van Couver. It was a land/sea package through Costco and everyone said that when cruising Alaska, Princess was the way to go. Boy, were we disappointed with Princess and so sorry we did not take Celebrity or Holland! It was our First and LAST cruise on PRINCESS. Although we loved the itinerary and ports, the food was awful and worse than Cafeteria Food. We cruise 2 - 3 times a year on other cruise lines and have always had excellent service and food on Holland, Celebrity, Viking, etc. Not only was the buffet minimal and disgusting, the dining service and staff were rude, arrogant and obnoxious.

SERVICE/WAIT STAFF : One night, we were seated at a table of 10 and we could not hear the waiter go over the specials, so when I asked him to repeat one entree, he became obnoxious and said "I already told you". When I asked the maite D why I couldn't get grilled salmon (on a cruise to Alaska), he said I could order it any night so when myself and a few others at our table ordered it, it came out so salty, we could not eat it. The waiter disappeared and by the time he came back, everyone else was already done with their dinner. The ship itself (Island Princess) was tired and old and in need of refurbishment.

ENTERTAINMENT was great. We especially enjoyed the evening shows, magician, comedian, and the dual piano every night was excellent and beyond our expectations. We did not participate in many activities and never went to the casino so cannot comment on that. The ship (ISLANDER) was older and getting tired and could use some updating of carpet and decor.

Cabin BC

Our cabin was clean and comfortable but could have used a little updating especially in the bathroom. We were fortunate to have a balcony that we enjoyed.
