We chose this cruise for the itinerary...Bergen Norway to Barcelona. Wonderful cruise except for the stormy seas and the bland food and the constant, annoying cello and violins!
The food....the Restaurant took at least 2 hrs to complete a meal, but the food was better here than in the World Cafe (buffet). Mancini's was great, but not for all the time. We never did the Captain's Table, you have no control over what's on the menu. The World Cafe is where we ate most of our meals because it suits our attire, and hours. For breakfast, you at the same thing boring thing everyday. I tried to get an omelet once, but the "chefs" were too busy fooling around to pay attention to the customers waiting, plus it took forever when they did. Lunch and dinner were just boring and the desserts were all mini gel-filled things. Aweful stuff. In the dining room, you got a proper dessert, but again, we only went there sporadically because we hated how long it took. I will say that the gelato ice cream bar in the WC was very good.
We love Viking generally, but the food was seriously lacking on this cruise. Even the "chocolate" show near the end of the trip was mostly unedible. I found lots of people throwing their stuff away, including us.
Cabin was great, nice balcony, a couch to sit on (instead of just a bed) and a coffee table. Nice bathroom with heated floors and great toiletries.
We took the included tour which was a 3 hour bus ride all over the countryside. It was really expansive and took you everywhere and let you actually "see" how and where the people here live. The bus lets you off at the end in town and allows you to walk back at your leisure. Loved it.
