El Morro in Old San Juan

El husbando and I celebrated our 25th anniversary by booking this cruise. This was our sixth Carnival cruise (we've sailed on the Glory, Legend and Valor) and we chose an aft, extended balcony cabin (7462) after doing a lot of research on this site.

Overall, it was a fantastic trip and we both enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. This will be a long review, so the short version is that we especially liked the Ocean Plaza Deck 5 because there were lots of activities, you can get across the whole ship on that floor, and you can also walk around the whole outside of the ship. The service was good, though we've had better on the other trips, and the food was consistently good (don't miss the s'mores dessert in the dining room!). This was the third time we've done this schedule (I'm from Puerto Rico, so try to book cruises that include a stop in San Juan).

Now for the more-detailed review for those of you who like to do tons of research.

Cabin Review

Aft-View Extended Balcony

Cabin 8M

The cabin itself was very similar to other balcony cabins on the Valor, Glory and Legend. It is showing some wear and tear, but it was very clean and orderly.

The balcony was definitely larger than a typical balcony. As others have mentioned, the glass is angled so that you end up with seemingly less room, but we felt like we had plenty of room. I moved the chairs around several times, with no problem.

We loved the sound of the wake and didn't find any other noises bothersome. Our neighbors on both sides and above were either very quiet or the sound didn't travel. The temperature in the room was easy to adjust and we were comfortable day and night.

This was our first aft extended-balcony room and we're glad we treated ourselves. I loved having the lounger for reading in the sun. El husbando liked the chairs and the small table.

There was a good mix of shade and sun, depending on the time of day. We also liked standing on the balcony when leaving port.

The fridge worked just fine as did the safe. It took us a minute to figure out the safe, actually. Just punch in the number of your choice (4 digits worked for us) then press lock. To unlock, just punch in your code.

I can't think of any downsides to this particular cabin.
