We chose this cruise because it stopped at many major cities that we had not been to and wanted to explore. It was the only Baltic Cruise that we found that included all these stops and more--a tour of the Norwegian fjords as well as stops at several smaller towns and cities along the way. This cruise provided a very comprehensive visit to the Baltic area. Of course, we would have liked a little more time in each stop, but this was a great sampler.

The cruise started in Stockholm and ended in Bergen. Because it included just one day in Copenhagen, we started our trip in Copenhagen, toured there for a few days, then flew to Stockholm a few days before the cruise. When we returned to Copenhagen on the cruise, we were able to choose an optional tour outside the city. Each port included a tour of the city at no extra charge, but there were also many optional tours. We chose a mix of included, optional, and private tours, which we arranged on our own. We stayed an extra day in Bergen at the end of the trip and then took the train to Oslo. The extra four days there rounded out our Baltic experience!

Originally, we were not going to go to Berlin because it was a long distance away from the port and a short time to sightsee. We decided to hire a private guide with our friends, and it turned out to be a perfect day. Those who took the train to the city also had a wonderful experience.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda Stateroom

Cabin DV2

The cabin was comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious and provided nice toiletries. We would have liked more drawer space. The closet was very large--we would suggest building shelves on one side or inserting a chest of drawers. We ended up putting much of our clothing on the floor of the closet. We needed more shelf space than hanging space. The people that we were traveling with had the same observation.

Port Reviews

Stockholm

If you have already visited the city, this is a nice tour. It is a beautiful palace, and the tour was well done.

Helsinki

A good introduction to the city. It also took us to the Sibelius monument and areas outside the center city. We had some time to walk and shop in the market area and Esplanade and tour the cathedral. Good for a short stop in port.

St. Petersburg

Our 2-day private tour was excellent. It included every major sight in and outside the city as well as a few extras and gave us several hours at night in the Hermitage.

Tallinn

The walking tour was average. The guide was young and did not seem enthusiastic and left us in the center of the city with an hour to go on our tour.

Gdansk (Warsaw)

The tour guide was very good and gave us a comprehensive tour of the city.

Rostock (Warnemunde)

The driver picked us up at the ship and drove us to Berlin, where we met our guide. We had an excellent private tour of the city, and the driver got us back to the ship at the same time as the train with the ship's passengers. A perfect outing.

Copenhagen

Because we had already been to the city, we chose to visit the castles. It was an excellent tour.

Aalborg

Our guide gave us a very nice tour of the city.

Stavanger

The guide was fine, but she had a problem with her equipment so we wasted a bit of time waiting for a replacement microphone and did not see everything on the town. We had booked a trip to Pulpit Rock on our own and did not have enough time to wait for her so we left the tour early.

Eidfjord

We took a tour of Hardangervidda and Voringsfossen, which was excellent.

Bergen

The tour took us around and outside the city. It was a good way to get acquainted with Bergen. We did other sights on our own.
