We are experienced ocean cruisers, but this was our first river cruise. We were originally scheduled on the Danube on Avalon. Due to low water levels, Avalon offered a refund which we accepted and chose this Seine trip on Viking instead. We were very pleasantly surprised by Viking, having heard some negatives, but we were so impressed we have booked our Danube trip on Viking for next year and hope to do an ocean cruise with Viking after that. Our verandah suite was perfect for us, except storage was more limited than we expected. We will pack differently next time—we didn’t need any of our “dressier” clothes and in the suites you have included same day laundry service so packing light should be easy. (There may actually be more drawer space in the regular cabins, based on quick peaks we were able to get on occasion while walking by.) We sat in the same area of the dining room each night and relied on our excellent waiter to recommend our meals and he did a great job; he was totally honest about what we should avoid. We had no complaints about the included shore excursions or guides. We found river cruising to be stressless and fun and educational, and we appreciated the staff’s expertise in every department.
