Chose this cruise because of the convenience of the Port and we love Cozumel and it was the first Port on this itinerary. We are not a huge fan of mega ships and this itinerary was overbooked due to the Thanksgiving holiday making lines very long. The ship is really quite beautiful inside. The deck plans provided could provide more detail as to the location of various dining venues and bars. We had a fantastic cabin steward who maintained our cabin in an immaculate way and made himself available should we have a special request. Many people, including ourselves, were disappointed to learn that unless you pre-reserved dining and entertainment for the week, you were out of luck as everything was fully booked. We attended the Meet & Greet, which we appreciate NCL providing, but in this instance, cruise critics were told there would be no question/answer session as "they [officers] would be there all afternoon..." That was a first for us. Being Platinum Plus passengers, we are entitled to concierge service. The extension for the concierge was nowhere to be found & we were not provided with it. I stood in line for 45 minutes to make a dining time change and obtain the concierge ext but was told I would need to obtain that info from guest services and stood in that line 39 minutes. Guest Services acted like it was a big deal to release that to us but we did receive it. The concierge was able to make a modification in the time for our dining. We were disappointed in the food at LeBistro. The Bouillabaisse no longer has muscles or squid in it, only a variety of fish and shrimp. The mushroom soup had no texture to it but was tasty. LaCucina was amazing and we dined there twice. We were not impressed with the appetizer bar at Moderno and the meat and chicken were dry and over cooked, but service was excellent. Ocean Blue was simply amazing from start to finish and we cannot wait to dine there again. We went to see Burn the Floor and it was great entertainment. We also enjoyed Wine Tasting the Musical and it was not only entertaining but the food and wine was delicious, perfectly timed, the show humorous and we sat with three other couples and had the best time! Highly recommend both. We didn't see much piano type music on this cruise and missed that a lot. We enjoyed Harvest Caye immensely and found it easy to find chairs despite the number of guests. The island is beautifully maintained and the water and sand were perfect in every way. We felt there should be more pools. There is one located in the children's section and the adult pool was small for such a large ship and always crowded so we never got in it. There were long waits to be served at the bars and waiters were seemingly in short supply. In order to obtain the yellow platinum luggage tags, standing in a long line was again required and the debarkation process was disappointing. We saw tags of many colors (purple, green) in the line to debark when only two had been called, yellow and brown. There was no priority debarkation for platinum/plus guests made available to us. I asked if the long line we were in was for priority/yellow tags and I was flatly told "yes". The folks ahead of us with luggage tags not yet called disembarked in front of us without any difficulty. So to me that meant the color tag you chose or requested meant nothing really. Now that we have experienced this beautiful ship and what you really need to know before you sail, we are being more proactive in reserving even the main dining room! We will sail her again in December a bit more savvy. All in all, despite the not so favorable experiences, we had a good time.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BA

The cabin was small compared to the smaller ships and the balcony was difficult to enjoy because it was incredibly small. Two upright chairs and one small square table, impossible to lounge or sit facing the water. Had to slant the chairs, it was tiny. There is very little room in the shower and our shower door did not seal properly and the drain was slow, so water flowed out onto the lavatory floor. The bed was the least comfortable bed we have ever slept in in 56 cruises and the pillows were not comfortable either. Our cabin was maintained immaculately and everything worked with the exception of the shower drain being slow and the shower door not fully closing. It was easy to stow luggage under the bed and the storage in the cabin and head were more than sufficient. We also had difficulty unlocking the balcony door but that might be a good thing, especially with small children.

Port Reviews

Harvest Caye

Such a beautiful island, so wonderfully maintained too. Lots of fun shops, friendly people, a gorgeous and welcoming pool, lots to see and do, like the exotic birds and a butterfly garden. The zip line looked amazing but we didn't try it, you need closed toed shoes like sneakers. The water was clear and refreshing. The chairs were plentiful. Waitstaff on the beach were helpful and courteous. We had an absolutely glorious day in Harvest Caye.
