Cabin: Veranda Stateroom

We wanted a cruise that included Prague. This cruise started there, ended in Paris (always a pleasure), and gave us the chance to see many parts of southern Germany we had not seen before. The ship cabins were delights of efficiency and practicality, and in our opinion were in many ways better than the very nice hotels we used at each end of the actual cruise (the heated bathroom floors were a real surprise and a major plus,). In truth we spent little time in out cabin, however, with all the tours and activities to choose from! We took as many off-ship excursions as possible, and virtually all had excellent local guides and priority access. Food was very well prepared and presented, and plentiful, at the breakfast buffet, the lunch buffet, and the dinner (which included a couple of “theme” meals). Both Shore and Onboard staff was uniformly pleasant and efficient and worked hard to meet the needs/demands of the cruisers. The very small ship nature of a river cruise meant that we were able to make many new friends even in a week’s cruise. Finally, the staff did a great job not only with the embarkation/disembarkation, but also with the many excursion departures/returns. We would highly recommend a Viking River Cruise (although out next cruise will be a Viking Ocean Cruise!).

Cabin Review

Veranda Stateroom

Cabin B

Excellently planned space, with more storage drawers than hotels at each end of the cruise. Extremely well planned bathroom with a heated floor, a truly unexpected pleasure. The veranda was a great addition, even though we didn’t spend much time there or in the room in general—there were too many other things to do or see. Both the mattress and the pillows were very comfortable. Many fellow passengers agreed with us that the ship cabins were better than the (very nice) hotels at each end of the trip.
