My Best Friend Booked this Cruise and asked me if I would like to join her . We have a 20 year friendship and I normally do the planning, but not this time. We ported out of New Orleans. This was not my first time cruising out of this port. I have cruised out of New Orleans previously, and every time has been pleasurable. Except this time was far from my previous experiences. We arrived about an hour and a half before our scheduled time . It was 95 degrees and our entrance time was delayed by an hour . There was a lady with a microphone . The line was wrapped around the block . She was calling us in by our scheduled entry time . No one could hear her, and other carnival employees were trying to relay the info to us but they couldn’t yell loud enough for us to hear. So by the time we were close to the building we were drained and everyone visibly wet from sweating. We checked our bags with the guys at the port. Once we were on ship my bag had made it to my room. My friends arrived a couple hours later . She was livid. When we walked in our room it was very hot. . I showered changed ND we went to the safety drill. The whole boat was hot. There was no air circulating. We called guests services at least 5 times for the air issue . They sent an engineer everytime with a gadget to test the room temp. Everytime we scored above 75 degrees . The system is old an you can’t adjust the temp yourself . You can either open and closed the vent to let you desired air flow in. They ended up bringing us a loud dirty fan , that was their solution. My friend wants to sleep on the deck because it felt better outside. We preordered cases of water but there was no fridge . Guests services brought one that night that we could plug in. our room Stewart wasn’t the most attentive he came in the morning at 9am cleaned and left . He wouldn't restock our towels or beach towels. There was no turn down service which I wasn’t use to, because I’m a Gold member with carnival and every other ship has a turn down service. We had to call guest services or take supplies off the cart on the hall if we seen them. Lelu was our dining room server and he was great we enjoyed him. Comedy shows were good as well as the adult game show . Drinks were great . Food was normal . This ship was renovated in 2016 according to carnival but that was a lie . They added guy burger and that is all . Our carpet in the hall had water stains and always smelled like sewage. A lot of the decor is super dated but since this ship was built in 1999 and not renovated as listed you can’t really be surprised. We walked by a utility closet where engineers were digging for parts and the boxes they were in were wet and molded . All over the boat would be these screens up blocking off different parts of the ship from where they were fixing and patching things it was very inconvient and not a pretty site you want to see while you are cruising. This ship needs to be scrapped it’s too old , too small, but maybe that’s why the price was so low. The club was wack and the Dj could have done better. The very best thing about this boat were the people. I cruise a couple times a year and I’ve never met or experienced people with this type of welcoming nature. People on this cruised ROCKED!!!!! Carnival should be ashamed of themselves for still sailing the little engine that tried , I meant triumph.

Ocean View

Cabin 6B

Other than not having more space , no air, and no fridge initially it was fine.

Port Reviews

Progreso

You have to pre book excursions because it’s an hour and half commute to the city from the port for most excursions . Taxis a little pricey because of distance . Souvenirs are very nice and cheap here.
