This was a delayed honeymoon cruise for us. We went with Celebrity as we have wanted to try this cruise line and felt Alaska would be the best place to do that. We wanted an aft balcony cabin for the views of both sides of the ship, and went with the S2 suite as it best suited our needs.
We planned to enjoy all the dining opportunities offered, but ended up eating in the Luminae almost every meal. It offered the such amazing service, incredible food, beautiful views out the windows, it never seemed crowded, and it was a very comfortable setting. The staff really made us feel as if we owned the place the way we were treated! It couldn't have been better!
The cabin steward and butler were both great and saw to every need we had, as did the concierge via Michael's Lounge.
The ship was beautifully decorated! The muster drill was inside for us in the restaurant Blu. The Cafe el Bacio became a daily stop for us with exceptional espresso, cappuccino and desserts. We very much enjoyed the smoke-free casino, along with the wonderful shops on board. The silent disco was a blast to watch, as was the hot glass show. The Captain, Yannis Berdos, was absolutely hilarious; what a delight it was to hear his announcements! The star of the cruise however was the Sawyer Glacier! The view from the helipad and even from our balcony was breath-taking. It's something we'll never forget!
This had planned to be out one trip to Alaska, but after this experience and on this ship, we were ready to go again before we stepped off the ship. I'm sure we'll be back, and Celebrity Solstice is the way to go!!
Wonderful cabin! It was very quiet, at the end and just off center with the hallway. The view from the balcony was amazing!! Would book this cabin again in a heartbeat! Large bathroom with tub and rain-shower head, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, cotton balls, q-tips, umbrellas in room (3 sizes), tons of storage space, bed is super comfy, lighted makeup mirror, small binoculars, 2 standard outlets, robes and slippers, hair dryer.... (trying to remember all that's in there)... just an excellent room!
Wonderful city to explore. Really enjoyed that so much was in walking distance or easy to get to via the underground tram or metro train.
We stayed at the Best Western Plus at Pioneer Square then at the Marriot by the water. Both were wonderful in their own way. We loved the historic Best Western, their customer service was beyond expectations!
Pikes Market is a must see, Rocko's Pizza is hands down amazing, and Ivar's Acres of Clams has a wonderful atmosphere, beautiful view and excellent food!
This is a small yet lovely area. It was raining and cold, but we absolutely loved it there! Everything is within walking distance, so it was a wonderful first stop!
We had a fabulous driver that drove us around town and told of the history before driving out to the glacier park. The park only gives 1 hour for the visits, and it's about .75 miles to walk down to the glacier, so you can't stroll. The path is kept nice and the views are beautiful even from the parking lot! Seeing the "Eagle's Club" was an unexpected pleasure!View All 971 Mendenhall Glacier Reviews
I was afraid when I booked this that I might be bored on a long train ride up a mountain, but I was wrong. The views from this ride are gorgeous!! I didn't realize we'd make it to the mountain top where the snow was and the Canadian border was. This is a wonderful excursion with excellent 'hosts'. Another big plus is that you board the train only steps from the ship; no long walk or ride to get there.View All 1212 White Pass Scenic Railway Reviews
