Sail Date: Jan 2010

This was our 5th cruise (2 with Carnival and the rest with Celebrity) in the Caribbean. We also sail in Jan/Feb to get away from the cold in Canada. We flew down the day before and stayed at the Sheraton Old San Juan. Got it on Priceline for $90. It was a clean room and we would stay there again. We checked out at 11 am and went to the port. We gave our luggage to the porters and waited in line for about 10 mins. They opened the doors and had us sit in chairs for approx 30 mins to fill out paperwork and make sure that the ship was ready for passengers. At noon we were given the okay and we were on the ship within 15 mins. The embarkation process is very organized. Got on the ship and received our champagne. Checked out our cabin and headed up for the lunch buffet. The ship was showing her age in places but very clean and they are in the process of doing the upgrades which is scheduled to take place in the next year.

We stayed in cabin 9038 which has the larger balcony. Our room attendants Elizabeth and Melanio were exceptional. We ordered room service twice however both times the order was not accurate. We had been in a CC room before so we knew what to expect with the daily canapes. We asked the first day for cheese and crackers and from than on we had both delivered daily. My DH enjoys the canapes and I enjoyed the cheese and crackers.

The food in the MDR was good. We never had a problem finding something to eat between the daily menu or the standard menu. Our waiter Savio was excellent and would bring you anything you asked for even if its not on the menu. Several nights the desserts were not what one of my table mates wanted so they would bring her a bowl of fresh berries which was very good. We ate at the Normandie for my DH birthday and it was amazing. The food and service are exceptional. I had the goat cheese souffle and filet mignon. I would highly recommend them. The food at the Waterfall was pretty standard for buffets but good. We also enjoyed the pizza, burger grill, and the daily ice cream flavours. You cannot go hungry on this ship no matter how hard you try.... The waffles are everything that you have heard about and more.

Cabin Review

Cabin CC

Extra room on the balcony. It is shaded from the overhang but you still get the sun just not enough to sunbathe.
