We chose this cruise because of the reviews and the promise of the best family experience. Other than the poor TV reception and the fact that it turned off at the worst moments....like watching a movie with the kids after a long day on the beach, the room was impeccable. The activities, climbing wall, slides, kids pool area, and putt putt were fun/good for the family. When we ordered alcoholic drinks, the service at the bar was excellent.....but when we tried getting refills for our soft drink package at the bar, service was dismal - servers would often look away and avoid eye contact. Even at the pizza place, which had first rate pizza, the soda service was bad, often with a line of people just waiting....and waiting. Dining at the Windjammer was just ok, but pretty much as expected for a buffet. The Washy Washy attendants were entertaining and friendly, a real bright spot for the kids. Our evening meals in the formal dining area were a big disappointment - the menu choices were a 10, but the actual food itself was more of a 3 at best......and truth be told, my expectations were just of 7 and it came in far short. Service there was inconsistent, ranging from great to just short of bad. Leaving and returning to the ship for excursions was easy and handled well by the staff....quick, friendly, and efficient. Getting on the boat was as expected, reasonable, and managed better than our prior Carnival Cruise......now, getting back off the boat in Galveston was unacceptable - your part was just ok, the line and waiting at Customs was rediculous, incredibly long, and our kids melted down.....I would address this issue as I would venture it's costing you business. Overall, good and bad, but mostly just OK.
