Jewel of the seas was a small clean ship. Our interior cabin was clean and tidy. The food in the dining room was ok. I have been on many RC cruises and recently the food choices for each meal have dramatically decreased. The same 3 or 4 choices were offered every meal with only a few different items each night. I miss the variety of foods. Our waiter was not very attentive and only came to our table to drop off our meals and asked once if our main dish was alright. He rarely recommended a meal or let us know what was happening the next day as I had experienced on many other cruises. Our assistant waiter was much more attentive but I ordered tea most nights and never got milk to go with it until my tea was cold. I blame the lack of attention on the fact that RC started adding auto gratuities to each passengers account (which you can remove if you choose which most people don't realize). Since this occurred I believe that the staff doesn't try as hard as they know they will get their tips regardless of whether they make an effort to provide great customer service or not. My biggest complaint was the shore excursion staff and one of our excursions. We wanted to book a 3 beach catamaran with lunch exercusion in Mykonos but it was not available to book online. We booked this when we arrived but when we went on the excursion, it was a large boat to begin with. The first beach we anchored 200 metres from the beach and were told we could jump off the boat but not go to the beach. The beach was a real beach but we only had 1 hr. Right before we got off the boat we were told that we would only get a snack so instead of going to the beach we ate lunch. Upon returning to the boat, there was lunch. There was no third beach. We went to the shore excursion staff upon after but were told that the decription of the excursion was changed and that one have to check each excursion on the ship as they may have changed which is rediculous. We were given 20% off but I think we should have got all our money back. Over all the staff were ok, not extremely friendly. Not sure I would reccommend this ship to anyone.
