We live about 30 minutes from port Canaveral so we have done quite a few cruises, this was our first time on Oasis and we were really excited for the ship experience. The boardwalk and Central Park areas were really nice and the shows were phenomenal, we watched come fly with me twice so I will give it to Royal that they did really well in those areas but overall I was expecting more with activity availabily and access to amenities. We were expecting the food in the main dining room to be better then carnival bc we were under the impression that Royal was a more premier cruise line, we were very disappointed when the NY strips came out very hard and not cooked the way we requested (we wanted medium rare and got well well done) and ended up speaking to the chef and waiter supervisor. After this they offered us the surf and turf complimentary and a bottle of champagne which was very nice. The remaining nights we were treated very well by all of the dining staff. We had an interior Central Park balcony and the first day there were people smoking which caused us to not be able to enjoy the balcony at all that day, we complained to our state room attendant and he told his supervisor. The next day there were people smoking marijuana which was absolutely horrible. We went down to guest services and complained, they said we needed to call security next time. The state room attendants supervisor met with us and offerered us the 20% off this cruise towards another cruise which is pretty much the only reason we are booking with Royal again.

We were also very disappointed that the ice cream machines and coke machines were broken from the first day and it continued the remainder of the cruise. The last day at sea we waited 20 minutes for them to put vanilla in 1 of the machines and chocolate in the one in the wipe out cafe. We asked to speak to the manager for the ice cream machines but they were too busy to speak to us. It took us 3 times to finally climb the rock wall, they kept advertising that it was open for “climb under the stars” but twice we went and it was closed. We were finally able to do it by waking up early and getting there right at 9am and half of the grips were broken and turned when you went to grab them. Also for the zip line it would be nice if they told you beforehand that you can’t were any jewelry and you need a sleeved shirt. The towel check in and check out was ridiculous, the last night on the ship we had them in our room bc we ended up not going in the hot tub and I had to change and go up to the pool deck just to check them back in and we STILL got charged which we had to wait in line at guest services to have it taken off. We also paid for 2 massages online prior to boarding and found out they charged us for 1 of them on the ship, we were not able to get that charge removed because the spa had closed the accounts so now we have to call to get a $130 erroneous charge removed.

We were the last people to get off the ship after dealing with all these false charges. Overall I was expecting more out of Royal Carribbean and there “world class ships” but I had a much better ship experience on my 7 night eastern Caribbean on carnival to be honest as far as the actual ship goes. You get all these amenities but they are closed or broken more then half the time on Oasis. In my opinion there is so much hype over these giant ships that they don’t bother to do anything to try to fix things for you unless you complain unfortunately.

Cabin Review

Central Park View Balcony

Cabin 1J

The cabin was very nice and I was actually surprised when it was as spacious as it was. We got the room right next to the service elevator so our balcony was double the size for the same cost. The only thing with this obviously is the noise from the carts going in and out but I think it was worth it as we were able to have our friends over to enjoy the wine we brought onboard.
