This was our first Holland America cruise and we chose it because if offered a good price for a longer itinerary on an almost new ship.

The Koningsdam is a beautiful ship and we were very happy with the overall cruise experience. Things are laid out well and passenger traffic seems to flow well in most areas - exceptions are the Promenade Deck which is a bit narrow and crowded in places and entrances to the Theater on Deck 2, which are very narrow and are also crowded after shows. We also noted that the art seems a bit low quality in some areas.

Dining was very good with a varied menu in the main Dining Room, good quality in the Lido Market (for a buffet) and lots of specialty restaurants. We tried all of the restaurants and can heartily recommend the Dining Room, Pinnacle Grill, Grand Dutch Cafe and Culinary Arts Center. Caneletto was also good value for money but we did not feel that Taramind or Sel de Mer were worth the extra cost. In particular, we found the food (but not the service) in Set de Mer disappointing.
