F.Y.I. I have cruised eighteen times so far and found the Royal Caribbean, Oasis Class boats to be well worth my cruising dollars. Cruising during spring break and other holidays is notorious for increased children whose parents do not think the rules apply to them. Royal has had enough complaints that we noticed on the Harmony this February that security was at least telling the young teenagers still carousing after 1:00A.M. about the curfew. Royal needs improve measures in this area of enforcemen in adult only areas. (exp. karaoke), adult sun deck, commedy entertainment, whirlpool and so on. I realize some kids are international and their time clocks are different but rules still apply. The ship provides ample scheduled social space for kids entertainment. We had 28 children brought into adult karaoke one night on the Allure. The parents were told five times to remove the children from the stage and also to not allow them all sit on the floor next to the stage as the servers could not safely navigate around them. These same children paraded into the theatre after the show started down to the front flooring area and all I can say is cudos to the commedian who had the courage to stop the show and tell whomever the parents were of these same children remove them or the show would not continue. I heard the one father reply that after all they are just kids having fun. The audience applause to the fix was perfect. I'm a parent and hope to be a grandparent soon so that window of first impression of my childrens ability to repect the rules comes first from me chosing to teach them the importance of adults only rules. Royal, will continue to get complaints until adults see security and other bar managers enforce the rules. The oasis class boats are my favorite. if navigating the decks is difficult, pay the extra dollars to be on a higher deck closer to the social decks. Be sure to line up extra early for promenade entertainment as it does get very crowded but manageable if you come prepared just like Disney parades. My Time Dining is brilliant and works perfectly. Our food on the Harmony was piping hot at our table and very well seasoned. The buffet usually has more tables at the very back of the boat. I "Never" had to wait as long as I shifted my eating to 1:00 rather than 12:00.which makes perfect sense. The same applies to breakfast and dinner. Patience and a little common sense about busy serving times apply. The bar in the adult sanctruary area is perfect for your thirst quenching choices and this area is a relaxing paradise. Royal does have a problem with people tying up chairs all day to accomodate their whims of oh! those rules do not apply to me people. The boats are big so take the time to memorize wich decks are social 5,8 12, 15, and so on. Actually I find these boats easier to navigate once I get my bearing understanding that formal dining is two decks as well as the theatre. Be sure to reserve you theatre seats ahead of departure or you might be disappointed. Be aware if you cabin is at the very front of the boat, you will hear booming from the waves breaking on the bow. Not for light sleepers. Guys, the mandatory sport coat is no longer mandated on formal night but a nice collard shirt and slacks unless your significan other is dying to see her handsome guy decked out. You are also still allowed to bring on board two bottles of unopend wine on departure day only to drink in your cabin or remember to bring a wine opener and carry your pre-poured glass to the dining room. A fee is charged is you ask the waiter to uncork your personal bottle. Savings!!!!! The drink package perk is well worth it if offered on you specific cruise. You can purchase a drink package on the boat after departure that is very cost saving and decrease in cost as the cruising days pass. Royal now offers a ten drink punch card that is brilliant for saving dollars for those who only drink one or two drinks a day. I have suggested to Royal that having only the pizza restaurant open for late night eaters/snackers needs to be addressed as not all need a full buffet but would be so happy to have a more healthy limited menu. I would be happy to anser any further questions about the Oasis Class experience if my suggestions would help those in question of the larger boats. I can hardly wait for the Symphony experience.
