Taking this cruise to celebrate my 70th Birthday as a single traveller was a bit of a financial hit, but I'm so glad I did it! My balcony cabin E724 on the Port side aft was perfect. The balcony can accommodate 4 chairs and a table for entertaining and it is just 5 cabins away from the underused Emerald aft deck where you can catch a glimpse of viewing on both sides of the ship! A real plus when there is something special to view! If I were travelling with someone, I would have preferred a mini-suite with a sofa and a bit more breathing room.

Yes, the ship is older and lacks some of the amenities of the newer ships. Most of the negatives have been mentioned many times in other posts, so I don't feel the need to reiterate them. Suffice it to say that none of them is bad enough to make one reconsider sailing on the Island Princess.

I can't say enough praises about the majority of staff on the Island Princess. Always greeting you, mostly by name, with a smile and always wanting to make things just right. The crew keeps you informed about any changes/ delays in the voyage and written communication is timely.
