We picked Oasis and Royal because we were cruising with our seven children, ages from 10-25. I definitely feel like it was a good choice for older kids and young adults; there was basically something for everyone. The ship is huge but the kids got the hang of it pretty quickly. I felt like everything was clean and in good repair. The design with the neighborhoods is appealing and works well. We had some days that were fairly chilly so it helped to have some indoor space.
My husband and I had a connecting boardwalk balcony cabin with the younger kids (my older ones were a deck beneath us in an interior cabin). I know I am not as thorough a cabin searcher as some because I had no idea we had a view of the ocean...I thought we would just be looking down on the boardwalk. Loved the cabin and our steward Babu who was very accommodating of our needs and the kids'.
We stuck almost entirely to the main dining room for dinner (and breakfast). We had my time dining and had the same waiter every night but the last one (which was a bit of a disaster, but didn't ruin the cruise or anything). Other than the last night we received great service. My stepson is autistic and after a few days our waiter knew his very particular order and even helped him cut his meat. I thought the food was good though not as good as Celebrity. I am a vegetarian and had a good option every night.
I loved the cabin. Spacious, well-appointed and great view. My kids however were annoyed at the lack of conditioner. We had the steward remove the barrier between balconies so we connected with the kids.
