We had never done a tourist cruise and had heard good things about Viking, so we decided to give it a try. It fit in with our usual trip to Germany, but the cruise took us to places where we had never been. All the tours were very enjoyable. The guides were well informed, spoke excellent English and were excellent companions for the tourists. We particularly enjoyed the tours of Passau, the Jewish quarter in Budapest, and the Benedictine abbey near Gottweig.
The hospitality aboard the ship was superb. Couple that with very food, delicious Austrian wines and pleasant dining with other passengers and you have a recipe for a very enjoyable holiday. The one thing about dinners that we felt could have been better was to have more dishes typical of the locales that we visited, but such was available during the tours.
Our room on the ship was small---in the lowest priced category---but comfortable, and we wouldn't have spent more time in a more luxurious room because there were plenty of things to do on board the ship, such as the cabaret.
