The ONLY reason we chose this cruise was to visit Cuba. We liked the fact that the ship would spend 2 full days in port in Havana. We have taken over a dozen cruises but this was the first with NCL. Although the ship is somewhat older, we found it to be very clean and up to date. Although the ship was full, at no time did it seem crowded. There were always deck chairs and available if desired and a seat at dinner or the buffet. The public rooms and entertainment were both first class. Since the ship is smaller, getting around was a breeze. All crew and employees we encountered were friendly and helpful. We ate 2 dinners in the main dining room and 1 in the buffet. Both were very good. The breakfast buffet was tasty and fresh. Cuba was not a disappointment. We mostly did things on our own but did take the tour "Evening stroll through Colonial Havana". It was fine but we just as easily could have done that on our own also. Everything offered as a shore excursion by NCL could be done on your own for about half the price. As soon as you get off the ship there were plenty of taxi's and tour companies ready to serve you. We rented a 57 Pontiac convertible with driver and guide for 5 hours and a cost of $200. They took us everywhere we wanted to go and also to places we'd never heard of. It was so much fun! The Cuban people were friendly and inviting. I'd have to say I've never felt safer in a large foreign city or anywhere else in the Caribbean or Bahamas. They all bragged that we could go in any neighborhood in any time of day or night and be safe. Our experience proved this to be true. I suggest you get several blocks away from the cruise terminal on foot and experience authentic Cuban neighborhoods. You can bring home up to 100 cigars and 2 liters of Cuban rum no questions asked. I bought some cigars in the government shops (expensive) and some from discreet street vendors (very inexpensive) Don't worry, if you look like a cigar guy, they will seek you out! He took me into his home (complete with chickens in the living room) where I met his family and had my choice of cigars. Maybe this wouldn't be for everyone, but for me it was fun. We had lunch in the Restaurant Van Van which I highly recommend. Our last day was supposed to be on a private Bahama island but it was cancelled due to high seas. The seas seemed pretty calm to me and so that was a bit of a disappointment. We cruised by the island and it looked quite nice. But the day at sea was also fun and the weather was perfect. If you like to drink, alcohol is included in the price of this cruise. They had decent booze and all the popular beer. There are plenty of bars on board and waiting was never an issue. The next morning getting off the ship and onto our shuttle to the airport was also a breeze. It was a perfect vacation.

Cabin IB

Cabin was fine. My wife would have preferred a balcony but I tried to save a few bucks. Cabin steward was great and room was always clean. If there was a gude to the TV channels we didn't find it. Although we never really tried to watch TV. Mattress was OK but not super comfortable. Plenty of room.
