We choose the Conquest to join friends we met on the Miracle in October 2016. We cruise as least once a year, usually twice, and in a good year three times. Our sailing was the first out of dry dock ... which resulted first in a delayed sail away then in delayed boarding. So glad we scored Faster to the Fun. Staff/Crew commented on the issues they faced due to dry dock numerous times and to account for a variety of issues (ex., mayhem in the Fun Shops, a massive leak in the dining room, spa appointment chaos ....) We chose your time dining and it's clear the dining staff were not equipped for it. Example, we were advised one night our wait time for a table would be 30 minutes ... fine, give us our 'buzzer' and we'll get a drink in the Atrium Bar while we wait. Bartender hadn't time to pour our drinks when 5 minutes later our table was ready. It really irked me that throughout the public areas, especially the Atrium Bar, there were burned out light bulbs everywhere. If I notice this three Mimosas in at noon, how does the maintenance staff not notice? What really pleasantly surprised me was the focus on personal connection with guests. Everyone made a real effort to learn our first names and addressed us that way throughout the cruise. Our cabin steward was the first in memory of any cruise line to not only make an effort to learn our names but to engage in conversation, ask our preferences for room service (Let us sleep! We're fine with a messy cabin throughout the day, it's okay to wait until we're at dinner to make the bed and leave us fresh towels!). Despite kinks in some systems (the Panorama Deck pool outside our cabin had some issues and wasn't available during the entire cruise, the internet was down ... a lot, the computer system went down one night and we had to sign paper receipts the result being someone wrote a folio number wrong and we bought someone we don't know a few drinks), we had a great time and will cruise Carnival again.

Cabin Review

Interior

Cabin 4H

We chose an interior cabin because we like to sleep in and LOVE that interior cabins are little cocoons. We also chose this location because it was one flight of stairs from the spa/fitness center (up) and a few feet from the Panorama Deck pool and Red Frog & Blue Iguana bars. The cabin was surprisingly roomy and we had more closet space than we needed. Our cabin steward kept it immaculately clean (not an easy job owing to the decor showing its age). Husband raved about the mattress and pillows; the bed linens were super comfy (cruising turned us on to duvets ... I'm not sure how people sleep without them). Typical cruise bathroom; I like the European shower system. Yeah, the stall is small but, come on, it's a ship.

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Given the delay out of dry dock, Carnival did a really good job of getting folks through embarkation. Faster to the Fun is worth it's cost!

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

We rented an Ocean Front Cabana. IT ... WAS ... FANTASTIC! Took a walk and spent some time in the pool ... swim up bar, water slides ... delightful! Could have zip lined but had more fun watching zip liners! Will look for this port when vetting future cruises.

Aruba

It was so very, very hot ... we've been Aruba before so we figured we'd sleep in and head off the ship to walk the pier, grab a beer, etc. No ... so very, very hot. We got off the ship, walked down the pier, turned around, and got back on the ship. Enjoyed the pool and bars on deck all to ourselves; fantastic.
