We just got back from another 10 day cruise on Carnival Spirit. This time we went with friends who were on their first cruise and they were, like us the first time, very sceptical. They came off the ship having loved every minute.

We booked to go on this ship again simply to see crew members who have now become good friends.

The service was exceptional from everyone as normal. The food in Empire had improved with more choices. In Nouveau and the Chef's Table the food was outstanding.

Cabin Review

Aft-View Extended Balcony

Cabin 8M

We booked this cruise on a 'guaranteed balcony' room and were given this cabin. We have been in a similarly placed cabin on Explorer of the Seas earlier this year but this did not suffer the same noise and vibration issues which we encountered this time on Spirit, only when the ship was going at full speed.

The room itself is the same as other balcony rooms we have had on this ship, with enough space for an extra bed which our teenage son slept on. Plenty of storage space and a slightly bigger balcony with a great view of the wake of the ship. This also got plenty of sun which was nice.

The vibration thing was only an issue on the last night when we had to hurry back to Sydney to dock in the early hours of the morning for a medical emergency on board. We were at full steam ahead and the noise and vibration made it hard to sleep initially, until we got into Sydney Harbour around 1am.

The room is directly opposite the laundry which is great...and there is no noise from the laundry or from anywhere else.

A great room...but not when sailing at full speed!
