I just want to write and say Thank You to Carnival for a great cruise. Despite the inconvenience and challenges of scheduling due to Irma, Carnival went above and beyond to make our cruise pleasant, relaxing, and safe! True, they did not tell us about the itinerary change until after we were on the boat, but it would not have mattered. We were looking for time away, sunshine, and good food. They delivered on all counts. My husband, and the friends that went with us, all enjoyed our time very much. They did drop us in New Orleans the last day of our trip. However, they refunded the charges for missing our last port of call, and opened up phone lines so that we could reach out to our families. The Captain did a great job of informing us of our status day-to-day, and even apologized for the inconvenience of Irma. Clearly, not his fault, yet he wanted to, in some way, express his regrets for how our trip had deviated from its original plan. Carnival even offered to allow passengers to stay ON THE BOAT until Irma had passed, FREE OF CHARGE. I cannot imagine how much it cost Carnival to extend the cruise an additional 6 days of food, fuel, entertainment, staff costs, laundry, etc. We needed to get off in New Orleans due to work, but would have stayed on otherwise. Our car was in Port Canaveral. They contacted us a few days after the storm to let us know that our car was fine and that we could come pick it up. So, thank you Carnival for going above and beyond. Irma was not your fault, and we really appreciate the great service we experienced!
