We lived in Germany during the early 1980's and, because of political reasons, did not visit East Germany other than Berlin. This cruise was an excellent opportunity to revisit Berlin and see those cities such as Wittenberg, Meissen and Dresden, many of which were still suffering the ravages of war in the 1980's. The trip was done in superb Viking manner with excellent sights, savory meals (They got the steaks right) and first class accommodations. The included tours where informative and given by knowledgeable guides that had a good command of the English language. Our Cruise included a extra time in Prague, Krakow and Warsaw. The accommodations in these cities were absolutely wonderful and in locations where it was short walking distance to many of the more interesting historical aspects of these admirable cities which were hidden from view during the communist regimes. Viking is the best and well worth the premium cost.
