Chosen for 70th birthday treat because we had a superb cruise with Emerald on the Rhine but it did not match that experience. The sound proofing was non-existent. Our cabin, 306, was directly under the ships air conditioning unit which was very very loud. When the cabins either side turned their TVs on we could hear every word and them talking and when they opened their shower room door and walked about. Also heard people walking on the sun deck. The cabins were very small compared with other Emerald ships, with very little storage space. The quality of the food was excellent but it was spoilt by there being too few waiters who were not trained properly. We often waited over 10 minutes to be offered tea or coffee at breakfast and wine and water at lunch and dinner. One night our dinners sat on the bar for such a long night time that by the time they were served the rest of the diners were being served dessert and our meals were cold. We had an embarrassed apology and an admittance of it being their mistake. It was difficult to catch the waiters' eyes and often they would serve one or two people wine, water etc at the table and ignore the other 4. The cruise director was poor: rude, did not listen, lost his temper when two people out of 100 went to the coach instead of waiting for him at the appointed place and told everyone else, treated us like errant children and his entertainment was not good. The fitness person was also the hairdresser so there were not enough slots for everyone to have massages.
