We traveled as a group of eight family members, staying for a few days prior to the cruise in Budapest and ending our journey in Munich after the conclusion of the cruise. Our family enjoys traveling together and Viking makes that an easy experience for younger and older travelers - we ranged in age from 55 to 85.

The Vilhjalm is a lovely ship, we thought the crew members were OUTSTANDING, from the tour director, to the room stewards, dining room attendants, and bartenders. The ship is modern, extremely clean with a welcoming decor. The amenities are very nice including an all day coffee and tea service, fresh baked goods in the morning and cookies in the afternoon. We had a veranda stateroom on the third level and enjoyed it very much. It is plenty of room, nicely appointed, very nice bathrooms, bedding and so forth. There is a laundry service available for an extra charge and it comes back very promptly and nearly gift wrapped.

The ports of call on this trip were really wonderful - we truly loved Budapest, Durnstein, Bratislava, Vienna, Melk, and Passau. There is a very nice selection of shore excursions and we took part in one or more excursion per day.
