We had a family reunion with 18 people and 3 generations. I was the planner and worked on this for over a year and thought I had every detail nailed down. I was disappointed to arrive and have our dinner seating at 3 separate tables, even though I had specifically asked for a table for 8 and a table for 10. This was a big deal simply because it was the only time of day we all were in the same place at the same time to connect with each other. The wait staff was apologetic and it was fixed within a day. They then double checked with The cruise itself was amazing and the perfect venue for all of our different abilities, personalities and age groups. Each group always had something to do.
We have sailed twice on the Oasis and I have to say the sports staff on the Harmony wasn't as great. I have a 12 year old son obsessed with basketball and TWO of the three activities he was able to do on the basketball court just didn't happen. There was no excuse, reason, or explanation- he just showed up to do it and as always the court was dominated by grown men. This was a big let down for him. He did occasionally squeeze himself into these games, but needless to say, he can't guard or play successfully with a 30 year old man. The teen group 12-14 wasn't really offered a lot of sports court time.
Excursions:
We previously have stayed on deck 9 with a window out to Central Park, but went for a balcony on 12 this time. We didn't like it as much and will go back to level 9 next time because I felt the motion of the ship more and also WAAAAY more noise from the pools on 15 got into our room all day. Napping was impossible but night was mostly quiet- once they were done moving deck chairs. My family ranged from 11 up to 14 with this same room, and they all have the same complaints. Too loud!
